Patrick Carrier is an attorney representing families in estate planning and elder law matters. Patrick was born in the National Naval Medical Center in Washington D.C. while his father was stationed at the Pentagon. He moved to West Michigan at the age of five and grew up on a farm in Rockford, Michigan. After graduating high school, Patrick moved to Chicago to attend Loyola University. Throughout high school and during several college summers, Patrick worked at the Law Offices of David L. Carrier. His responsibilities ranged from preparing deeds and documents to revamping the firm’s filing system, a lengthy project which involved thousands of files, dozens of shelving units and July and August spent in a broiling metal storage unit. Thanks Dad!
Patrick holds a B.A in English and Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, where he was a Damon Scholar and a member of the Honors Program. Following Loyola, Patrick attended the University of Notre Dame Law School where he earned his J.D. in 2009 and served as an officer in the Irish Law Society and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.
He started his professional career with Dunn/Gibbons, a boutique civil litigation practice in Grand Rapids and worked as a volunteer law clerk at the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office. He also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the 17th Judicial Circuit under the Hon. Patricia D. Gardner.
Patrick then spent five years as a litigator in Chicago. As an associate at Daley Mohan Groble, he represented railroad and industrial clients in tort, casualty litigation, FELA and personal injury defense. Prior to joining Daley Mohan, Patrick spent four years with O’Connell, Tivin, Miller & Burns specializing in tort, environmental and insurance defense litigation. It was time extremely well spent learning the practice law, different attorneys’ styles, courtroom techniques and dedication to the profession. It was also plenty of time for Patrick to realize he would much rather spend his career helping people than fighting with them.
